Power Steering, Electromechanical
A speed-sensitive electrical power-assisted steering system which is only activated when needed and uses no hydraulic components. Compared to hydraulic power steering, cars fitted with electromechanical power steering benefit from lower fuel consumption and new convenience and safety functions. These include active return of the steering to its centre point to improve the steering sensation around the mid-point, while crosswind compensation comes to your aid when driving in a constant crosswind or on a sloping road surface. Steering is optimised by the customised adaptation of power assistance relevant to the engine and equipment in your car. The inclusion of these extra functions has been made possible by integrating the control unit into the CAN data bus. We fit electromechanical power steering as standard in many of our cars.
